When you look at our economic strength, our incredible diversity, our connectivity to London, the UK and the rest of the world, and our world-class cultural and historical attractions, it’s no wonder we are seen as London in One Borough, the World in One Place.
Our 288,000 residents need a high-performing local authority now more than ever. We have a clear vision for the Council, the Borough and our communities, articulated in our new Corporate Plan, all of it underpinned by a detailed Delivery Plan and Financial Strategy.
Our Director of Law & Governance is central to our decision-making and governance, working really closely with me, our Chief Executive and the rest of our senior leadership team to ensure our ambitions are realised and we have the biggest impact possible for our residents. We enjoy close, productive and respectful relationships with our Elected Members, and together with them, our communities and our many excellent partnerships we are innovating, convening and delivering better, new and different services that ensure Hounslow is greener, healthier, cleaner, thriving, safer and liveable.
We don’t stand still in Hounslow. Our values and organisation culture are fundamental statements, that articulate who we are, why we do what we do and how we get things done. They inform our approach to all our work and will be a critical part of this recruitment and your future onboarding and personal development. Our Directors aren’t just the professional leaders of their services, they are champions of local democracy, ambassadors for our Council and Hounslow, and true corporate leaders, contributing with curiosity and without judgement across our organisation and the Borough.
If you are a local government law and governance professional then you will know you will be replacing Rachel McKoy, former LLG President, who is taking on a new challenge in East London. Rachel has been an inspiring, visible and proactive leader of our legal and democratic services, as well as a highly effective and well-respected Monitoring Officer. She has re-shaped our teams and created a profile and reputation for the service that will serve as an outstanding legacy and an ideal platform for you to make your own decisive impact on our Council, residents and communities. Your leadership, advice and challenge will fuel our decision-making, ensuring we are safe and lawful, but also creative, innovative and agile in our approach. All of this is in the context of one of London’s largest Boroughs, with a uniquely complex group of trading companies, Lampton 360, and a housing stock exceeding 13,000.
I would be delighted to talk further with you if this introduction has fueled your enthusiasm. Talk in the first instance to colleagues at Tile Hill and I look forward to meeting you.
Kind regards
